Me & Yann were so tired after that boat trip and decided to go back to hotel! On the way to the room, we found a really good restaurant that makes delicious fish fry, aloo vorta, vegetables and rice. After completing lunch, we walked to the hotel room and took a small nap. We woke up around 4:30 PM and started by an auto to explore Himchari! Afternoon is the best time to visit Himchari, so we fixed 150 BDT for one way.
On our way to Himchari View Point, Yann tried driving an auto and that was an funny experience for me! The auto driver was super excited to see a french guy riding an auto. When we reached, we found that foreigners need to pay 160 BDT for entrance and paid only 30 BDT because I was local! We bought tickets and break 280 stairs to go to the top. The top view is unbelievable and you can sit there till the sunset.
Well, sitting there was an amazing experience but we had to face lot of weird questions about the reason behind visiting Cox’s Bazar! A girl was about to fallen down by seeing Yann standing beside her! However, we enjoyed the view of sunset and the changing colours of the sky.
I am sure if you stop thinking about everything and just concentrate on the view, you will feel different for few minutes. We left the place after 30 minutes of sunset since the place became calm and dark! I felt everybody should leave because of the safety issues. It won’t be a good idea for anyone to stay there and get mugged or bullied for being alone or a foreigner.
We walked around the Barmis market for few minutes and took an auto to enjoy a cosy dinner at mermaid eco resort! The place is far from the center so we had to hire an auto that costs 300 BDT to reach there. Auto drivers can ask about two-way journey that will cost around 600 BDT in total. If you want you can get that you have to get his contact details and talk about the time duration. Otherwise he might charge you more once you will start to the city.
Interestingly, Mermaid authority have their own auto service that costs the same amount to coming back to Cox’s Bazar. You just have to inform the guards that you need an auto to go back to the city. Since the area is a bit calm and peaceful, it would be a wise decision if you come back to the city by 9:30 to 10 PM. Also, better take a CNG not an Auto for coming back because the vehicle is faster and stronger.
Foods is mermaid were a bit expensive than the other restaurants, so please ask and go through the menu properly before you order. It takes time to serve foods, so better you plan your time accordingly. Me and Yann ordered fish and enjoyed the windy weather that brought a lot of sand on our face. We went back to the city and spent some time in front of the ocean!
Yann and I had shared some good music like Francis Cabrels Je l’aime a mourir, Bangladeshi local music and walked towards the Sugondha Beach. On our way to the beach we found many cheap sea food restaurants that offered instant grill, fry sea fish in a delicious manner. We were really sad because we paid a lot of money for our dinner.
So, for those who would like to experience better food by spending less amount, can walk to the Sungondha Beach and can find sea food shops. You can choose fish, crab, squid and they can grill or fry for you. You can only get those after 6:30 PM 11:30 PM. They will charge for each item that you will select from the display. Additionally, there are other restaurants who offers sea food in the evening time. You can actually walk close to other beach and choose restaurants depending on your budget.
Day went great and it was time to sleep!
